This webinar with with Caleb Cain Marcus will explore how books move from concept to publication, why publishers take on projects, and how design elevates a book’s critical success and ability to enter cultural memory. Through case studies and behind-the-scenes insight, we’ll discuss how books are shaped and designed to be meaningful objects that increase the artist’s audience, reputation and legacy.
About the Instructor
Caleb Cain Marcus is the creative director of Luminosity Lab, known for developing the creative strategy and design vision of publications for leading museums, publishers, curators and artists.
Pivotal projects include: Carrie Mae Weems: Varying Shades of Brown for Brown University hailed as “a sculptural object—proving that books still push boundaries in a screen-dominated era” by Cent Magazine; Taking Care: Black Angels of Sea View Hospital for the Staten Island Museum; and New York Home: Now for Museum of the City of New York.
His design excellence and innovation has been recognized by the Art Directors Club AIGA, Red Dot Design Award, Communication Arts and Tokyo Type Directors Club.
